How to check out any freight company

Don't take a website's word for it, including ours. These checks take a few minutes, and they work on any carrier or broker you deal with, including the companies in the LFS network.

  1. Look up the authority

Search the company on FMCSA's SAFER Company Snapshot and confirm the name, USDOT number, phone and status.

  2. Match the phone number

FMCSA advises carriers to confirm that the phone number they were given matches the one in SAFER. A mismatch is a warning sign. See FMCSA's fraud guidance.

  3. Call back on a number you found yourself

Don't rely only on the number in an email. Call the listed number and ask for the person by name.

  4. Ask for it in writing

Fees, services and terms should be written down before you sign anything. Ours are.

About reviews and testimonials

We don't post testimonials we can't verify, and we won't invent them. If you want to talk with us before deciding anything, call or send a message and ask whatever you need to ask.

If you have a dispute with a freight broker, you can file it with FreightBrokerComplaint.com or FMCSA's Complaint Center. Our freight fraud guide explains both.

Questions and answers

What makes LFS different?

Everything we do is backed by education. Your company is managed by Logistical Forwarding Solutions, and behind it is Freight University: students, interns and academics applying what they learn to help build your company. You don't just get a company behind you. You get a complete platform backed by education and transparency. No one else in America does this. How we work.

Is Logistical Forwarding Solutions legit?

Logistical Forwarding Solutions LLC is a Utah company that has operated for more than 20 years. LFS is a service company, not a freight brokerage. Every trucking company and brokerage in the LFS network operates under its own authority, which you can look up on FMCSA's SAFER Company Snapshot. We encourage you to run that check on any company you deal with.

What does 'carrier-first' mean?

It means the trucking company comes first. Before we offer anything, we ask whether it helps keep the small trucking company solvent, compliant, earning and not alone. If a service would help someone profit at the carrier's expense, we don't offer it.

What does LFS do?

We are a service company, and our job is to keep trucking companies alive. We help people start trucking companies, build freight brokerages, manage trucking companies (back office, fleet management, freight research and dispatch), stay DOT compliant, and grow through consulting. We also offer managed truck ownership, education through Freight University, and free complaint help for carriers through FreightBrokerComplaint.com.

Is LFS a freight brokerage?

No. LFS is a service company. We build and manage trucking companies and freight brokerages, and each one operates under its own authority. LFS does not broker freight or book loads for shippers. Our founder has brokered freight during his more than 25 years in the industry; that is his experience, not a current LFS license.

What is the LFS network?

Every trucking company and freight brokerage LFS builds is part of the LFS network, with LFS management and compliance oversight. Each company operates under its own USDOT and MC numbers, not ours. Truck owners can place equipment with network trucking companies through managed truck ownership, Freight University-trained agents can be placed with network brokerages, and CDL-A drivers are hired for network trucking companies.

What does your dispatch service cost?

8% of the gross of each load. It includes more than dispatch: compliance support, access to a transportation management system, freight research, business development, back-office support, and broker and rate review. See dispatch services.

Who does the dispatch work?

A Professional Logistics Service Provider (PLSP) trained by Freight University, our education arm. Freight University stands behind that training.

What equipment do you work with?

53-foot dry van, refrigerated (reefer) and power only: 80,000 lb CDL freight. We don't work with flatbed or hotshot freight.

Is managed truck ownership an investment fund?

No. LFS is a management business. We don't take investment money. You buy the truck, it is placed with a trucking company in the LFS network and runs under that company's operating authority, and we manage it. There are no promised returns; income depends on freight rates, truck uptime, fuel, repairs and market conditions. Read the risks in plain words.

Do you promise loads or income?

No. Nobody honest can. Freight rates, fuel and repair costs move. We tell you what we see and what it means for your truck.

Do you hire drivers?

Yes. We hire CDL-A drivers for the trucking companies in the LFS network. See CDL-A driver jobs.

How is LFS connected to Freight University?

Freight University is LFS's education arm and shares its founder. It runs the PLSP certification, a three-month program with live sessions twice a week. Graduates may be placed with a freight brokerage in the LFS network; placement is not promised.

Do you offer DOT compliance help in my area?

We offer DOT compliance services for small carriers, with local pages for Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. Contact us about your location.
